Inconel 925 is an age hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy designed to provide a combination of high strength and good corrosion resistance. Inconel 925 nickel bar provides excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion in both oxidizing and reducing environments.
Inconel 925 may be machined in either the solution annealed or aged condition. Best results are often obtained by rough machining in the solution annealed condition and finishing after heat treatment. Cemented carbides generally produce the highest cutting rates and are recommended for most turning operations involving uninterrupted cuts. High speed steel tools may be used for interrupted cuts, finishing closing tolerances and cutting with the least amount of cold work hardening.
